The discipline era of higher vocational education is coming

The correspondence between undergraduate majors and disciplines has become common sense in general higher education, but for higher vocational education, do not underestimate the release of this correspondence table, it is not only related to the issue of the correspondence between higher vocational majors and disciplines, in the author's opinion, but has more significant value and significance, it has ended the long-term history of higher vocational education in China that only talks about majors and does not talk about disciplines. It announces the end of the non-discipline era of higher vocational education, of course, it means the coming of the discipline era of higher vocational education.

The release of the corresponding table will promote our higher vocational colleges as a whole to gradually enter the era of focusing on majors and supporting disciplines. In the past decades of development, China's higher vocational education has created a brilliant non-discipline era in which only "major" is exclusive. Some higher vocational colleges have even reached the limit of the non-discipline era in the construction of majors (groups), which is worthy of recognition. However, if the professional construction without discipline support wants to move to a higher stage of development, It is even more difficult to realize the important task of promoting the high-quality development of higher vocational education in the new era.

The end of the non-discipline era of higher vocational education will break the bottleneck of higher vocational colleges in our country, that is, this corresponding table, not only directly requires higher vocational colleges to build disciplines, but also indirectly causes higher vocational colleges to attach importance to discipline construction, and finds the idea of supporting system construction for the high-quality development of its professional construction.

Why is it said that the discipline of higher vocational education is the support of the profession, but it is not said that the discipline is the leader or that the discipline and the profession are equal? Because the discipline is the leading, the major is the support, is the practice of research-oriented universities, the discipline and the major equal attention is more of the status quo of application-oriented universities.

The accumulation and accumulation of professional construction in higher vocational education for decades have determined that the important position of professional construction in higher vocational colleges cannot and cannot be changed, and the discipline construction can only be in a subordinate position and play a supporting role. This is determined by the current situation of higher vocational education in our country, and it is also the characteristic of the integrated development of disciplines and specialties in higher vocational education. In order to reflect the discipline characteristics of higher vocational education, we must mainly build a discipline with its own characteristics, that is, a knowledge system built around vocational posts - vocational disciplines. The construction and improvement of this professional discipline knowledge system will strongly support the promotion and development of related professional construction.

Of course, the end of the non-discipline era of higher vocational education also means the coming of the discipline era of higher vocational education, which will promote the changes in many aspects of higher vocational colleges and give birth to new great development. If we can seize such opportunities, some higher vocational colleges may even be reborn.

First, in terms of professional construction, it will promote historic changes in higher vocational colleges. First, in the professional setting, we should not only consider the needs of economic and social development, but also consider the corresponding relevant disciplinary basis, such as vocational discipline platform, professional discipline team and scientific research. Only the major that is both urgently needed by the society and has a certain discipline basis is the most important major to set up. If we only look at the demand and blindly start construction without discipline foundation, it is bound to be a low-level professional construction. Second, in the process of professional personnel training, we have shifted from focusing only on the adequacy of knowledge and technology to focusing not only on the adequacy but also on the systemization. An important feature of the discipline is to emphasize the systematization of knowledge. The reason why the degree is awarded on the basis of the discipline is to ensure that students grasp the systematization of knowledge. Therefore, the construction of vocational disciplines inevitably requires higher vocational colleges to attach importance to students' mastering of systematic knowledge of related vocational disciplines, including technical skills and knowledge. Once students master the systematic knowledge of relevant vocational disciplines, their knowledge transfer ability will naturally be enhanced, and the shortage of sustainable development ability of talents training in higher vocational colleges will be made up accordingly.

Second, in terms of scientific research, substantial changes will be promoted in higher vocational colleges. First, pay more attention to scientific research. In the past, due to the establishment of only professional, the value of scientific research to professional is indirect, only from the perspective of promoting professional construction. In essence, scientific research is one of the four elements of the discipline and an important content of the discipline construction. To build a discipline, we must pay attention to scientific research. Therefore, with the coming of the discipline era, the emphasis of higher vocational colleges on scientific research will surely be strengthened. The second is to further clarify the positioning of scientific research. At present, the orientation and practice of scientific research in higher vocational colleges in China are fuzzy, and more orientation is in applied research. Actually, that's not accurate. If the scientific research of higher vocational colleges is located in applied research, what is the difference between it and applied research in applied universities? How to position scientific research in higher vocational colleges? According to the requirements of vocational discipline construction, the scientific research of higher vocational colleges should be located in vocational research. Because career science is all about career studies. Vocational research includes two aspects: vocational science research and vocational education science research. The ultimate purpose of higher vocational education is not to solve the problems of society and its industries and enterprises, but to solve the problems of occupation, that is, to solve the problems of society and its industries and enterprises related to occupation. Vocational education is the education produced by occupation, and its logical starting point is occupation rather than society. Therefore, it is only natural for higher vocational colleges to position scientific research in vocational research.

Third, in terms of social services, it will promote the ability and level of higher vocational colleges to serve the society. Social services relies on its faculty team's mastery of technical skills and their related scientific and technological frontiers. Discipline is the home of teachers' academic growth, and an important mission of discipline construction is to help teachers master the cutting-edge knowledge of science and technology and constantly carry out technological innovation. It can be predicted that with the coming of the discipline era, the social service ability of higher vocational colleges, especially the level of scientific and technological service, will be greatly enhanced.

In addition, in the aspect of school governance, we should not only consider the construction of professional organizations, but also consider the organizational structure of disciplines. In the aspect of cultural construction, we should not only attach importance to the development of professional culture, but also attach importance to the cultivation of discipline culture. The "baton" of the evaluation and evaluation system also needs to be adjusted accordingly. In short, the end of the non-disciplinary era of higher vocational education is pregnant with new opportunities for great development, but it will bring great challenges in both aspects of "breaking" and "standing", so there is still a long way to go.
